PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team defeated Georgetown, 6-0, in BIG EAST action on Sunday, April 3 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. With the win, the Friars earned the series sweep and improved to 21-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
GAME NOTES

Madi Traver (Irving, Texas) started the scoring off for the Friars with a solo home run to left field in the second inning. The Friars led 1-0.
-In the fourth inning,
Rachael Petrarca (Clearwater, Fla.) hit her first career triple to right field.
Kari Shedrick (Apex, N.C.) followed with an RBI double to left field, the Friars led 2-0.

Lea Kosinski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) entered the lineup in the fourth inning as a pinch hitter with bases loaded and hit her first career grand slam. The Friars led 6-0 heading into the fifth inning.

Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) pitched a complete game for the Friars allowing two hits and striking out nine batters.

The Friars will host the University of Maine in a double header on Wednesday, April 6 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
