PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team defeated BIG EAST foe Georgetown, 2-1, on Friday, Sept. 24 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.
1st QUARTER:
• Providence outshot Georgetown 3-2 in the opening 15 minutes of play.
• The Hoyas held a 2-1 advantage in penalty corners.
• The game was scoreless at the break (0-0).
2ND QUARTER:
• The Friars took a 1-0 lead at 23:29 as
Nora Goddard-Despot (North Vancouver, British Columbia) knocked home a rebound during a penalty corner.
• Providence held a 5-2 edge in shots, while the Hoyas recorded four penalty corners compared to the Friars' two.
3RD QUARTER:
• Georgetown tied the game, 1-1, at 36:08 as Vivienne Trumpbour converted a feed from Isabel Harkins at the left post.
• Less than a minute later, the Hoyas were awarded a penalty stroke, but Louisa Baxter's attempt was saved by
Asia Porter.
• The game remained level at 1-1 following the failed attempt.
• Momentum took a swing in favor of the Friars after Porter's crucial save as they went ahead 2-1 at 42:10 on a penalty corner.

Roos Michiels (Noord-Brabrant, The Netherlands) was credited with the goal off a feed from
Bella Carrozza (Ridgefield, Conn.).
• Michiels' goal proved to be the game winner.
4TH QUARTER:
• Providence outshot the Hoyas 6-0 in the fourth quarter, while the Hoyas held a 1-0 edge in corners.
• Ciara Weets made five saves for Georgetown in the final 15 minutes of play.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• The Friars are 5-0 at home on Lennon Family Field this season.
• Porter finished the night with three saves in the victory.
• For the game, the Friars outshot the Hoyas 15-9.
• Georgetown led in corners, 8-5, but the Friars were able to convert both of their goals on set pieces.
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Friars will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 26 against No. 22 UMass. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Amherst, Mass.
• Homecoming Weekend is scheduled for next weekend at Providence College (Oct. 1-3). The Friars will travel to Connecticut for a BIG EAST match on Friday, Oct. 1 before returning home to Lennon Family Field to host VCU on Alumni Day.
