Friars return to action on Sunday, October. 12 against Sacred Heart at Noon.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to Quinnipiac, 2-1, on Oct. 10 in Providence, R.I. The Friars dropped to 7-5 on the season (1-3 BIG EAST), while Quinnipiac improved to 7-5 (1-3 BIG EAST).
GAME FLOW:
• The Bobcats got on the board early in the first after converting a penalty corner opportunity 3:15 into the match. Maaike Van Wensen scored the goal and was assisted by Rozemarijn Van Keulen and Cameron Brower.
• Quinnipiac carried its 1-0 lead into halftime. The Bobcats held a 4-0 edge in shots and 2-0 advantage in corners.
• The Bobcats claimed a 2-0 lead at 42:43 as Van Wensen scored her second goal of the day on a corner. She was assisted by Lucia Donati and Brower.
• Carly van Benten (Ashburn, Va.) scored the Friars' lone goal with 36-seconds remaining in regulation.
• The Friars used a 10-2 advantage in shots over the final 30 minutes of play.
• Ava Porter (Somerset, Mass.) recorded two saves in goal and was subbed out in favor of the extra attacker for the final 4:05 of the match.
• For the game, Providence held a 10-6 edge in shots, while Quinnipiac recorded the advantage in corners, 4-2.
