PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to Quinnipiac, 2-1, on Oct. 10 in Providence, R.I. The Friars dropped to 7-5 on the season (1-3 BIG EAST), while Quinnipiac improved to 7-5 (1-3 BIG EAST).
GAME FLOW:
• The Bobcats got on the board early in the first after converting a penalty corner opportunity 3:15 into the match. Maaike Van Wensen scored the goal and was assisted by Rozemarijn Van Keulen and Cameron Brower.
• Quinnipiac carried its 1-0 lead into halftime. The Bobcats held a 4-0 edge in shots and 2-0 advantage in corners.
• The Bobcats claimed a 2-0 lead at 42:43 as Van Wensen scored her second goal of the day on a corner. She was assisted by Lucia Donati and Brower.

Carly van Benten (Ashburn, Va.) scored the Friars' lone goal with 36-seconds remaining in regulation.
• The Friars used a 10-2 advantage in shots over the final 30 minutes of play.

Ava Porter (Somerset, Mass.) recorded two saves in goal and was subbed out in favor of the extra attacker for the final 4:05 of the match.
• For the game, Providence held a 10-6 edge in shots, while Quinnipiac recorded the advantage in corners, 4-2.

• The Friars will conclude the weekend slate with a non-conference match against Sacred Heart at Lennon Family Field on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 12:00 p.m.
