Field Hockey To Host Quinnipiac And Sacred Heart At Lennon Family Field

Friars open the weekend with a BIG EAST match against Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 10 at Lennon Family Field.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will host a pair of games this weekend at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars will host BIG EAST foe Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 10 at 3:00 p.m. and will conclude the weekend with a non-conference match against Sacred Heart on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 12:00 p.m. The match between Providence and Quinnipiac will serve as the backdrop for the program's annual Bring A Professor To The Game. Sunday's match versus Sacred Heart is the team's annual Pinkout Friartown Game.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE (7-4, 1-2 BIG EAST):
• Providence enters the weekend with a 7-4 record, including a 1-2 mark in BIG EAST play.
• A trio of juniors have reached double-digits in the scoring column this season, led by Carly van Benten's 15 points on four goals and seven assists. She has scored a goal in each of the last two games and her seven assists leads the team.
• Van Benten ranks third in the BIG EAST and 18th in the nation in assists per game (0.70) 
Bo Martina is second in scoring with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Lily Procaccianti owns 13 points on six goals and one assist. Martina and Procaccianti are tied for the team lead in goals scored.
• Van Benten, Martina and Procaccianti each rank among the top-10 in in the BIG EAAST in points per game.
• Freshman Ari Ftorek is enjoying a solid rookie campaign and enters the weekend with nine points on four goals and one assist.
• Freshman goalkeeper Ava Porter has started all 11 games and has logged 679 minutes in the cage. She owns a 1.33 goals against average and a 0.795 save percentage. The rookie has posted two shut-out victories on the season and a 7-4 record overall. 
• Porter ranks first in the BIG EAST in save percentage and second in goals against average.
• Nine different players have scored at least one goal this season through 11 games, including six multi-goal scorers.
• A handful of players have recorded their first career points this season, including Piper Cline, Johanna Mahner, Martu Torre Festa, Ari Ftorek and Lilia Payne.
 
Bo Martina and Macie Pennisi were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team in August. Martina was a unanimous selection, having come off a 2024 campaign in which she earned All-BIG EAST First Team and NFHCA First-Team All-Northeast Region honors.
• Providence is tied for first in the BIG EAST [with Temple] and ranks 21st in the nation in penalty corners per game (6.82).

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC (6-5, 0-3 BIG EAST):
• Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 6-5 overall record, including a 0-3 mark in BIG EAST action.
• The Bobcats are coming off a 1-1 weekend, in which they lost to BIG EAST foe Temple, 3-0, on Oct. 3 and defeated Wagner, 2-1, on Oct. 5.
• Francisca Eschoyez leads the Bobcat's offense with 25 points on nine goals and seven assists. She leads the BIG EAST in goals (nine), points (25), points per game (2.27), shots per game (4.82) and shots on goal per game (2.82).
• Rozemarijn Van Keulen and Mo Quaile are tied for second in scoring with 11 points each. Van Keulen has recorded four goals and three assists, while Quaile has tallied five goals and one assist.
• Lucia Donati is second on the team in assists (five) and ranks fourth in scoring, with seven points.
• Cristina Torres has played 615 minutes in the cage for Quinnipiac and owns a 1.56 goals against average and a 0.733 save percentage.
 
SCOUTING SACRED HEART (3-8):
• Sacred Heart enters the weekend with a 3-8 overall record and will face Merrimack on Friday, Oct. 10 before making its way to Providence.
• The Pioneers are in the midst of a four-game winless streak, including two losses by a single goal.
• Ines Braithwaite, Emma Brayford and Holly DeAngelo are tied for the team lead in scoring with six points.
• Braithwaite has recorded two goals and two assists. Brayford leads the team in goals (three) and DeAngelo leads the team in assists (four) and has added one goal.
• Brianna Cooper has played the majority of minutes in the cage for Sacred Heart (530). She owns a 1.47 goals against average and a 0.729 save percentage. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
• Providence is scheduled to play just one match next weekend. The squad will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on No. 7 Liberty in BIG EAST Conference play on Friday, Oct. 17. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
