PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team was defeated by the UConn Huskies (24-14, 11-4 BIG EAST), 16-0, on Sunday, April 13, at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars moved to 16-23 overall including a 9-9 mark in BIG EAST play.
GAME NOTES
- The Huskies opened the scoring with four runs in the second off a two-run triple and a two-run homer.
- Connecticut extended its lead to 5-0 following an RBI double in the fifth.
- UConn added 11 more runs across the final two innings to seal a 16-0 win over the Friars.
- Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.), Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) and Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) each spent time in the circle for PC. The three pitchers combined for five strikeouts.
ON DECK
The Friars will head to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas. Providence will begin series play with a game on Wednesday, April 16 starting at 3:00 p.m. The three-game set will conclude with a doubleheader on Thursday, April 17 starting at 12:00 p.m. All games will be available for viewing on FloSports.
