Cameron Dunn recorded a home run in game one and an RBI double in game two.
GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The Providence College softball team lost a pair of games on day two of the Bubly Invitational on Saturday, February 15, in Gainesville, Fla. The Friars were defeated by Boston College, 6-4, in the first game and later fell, 10-2, in five innings, to No.12 Duke. Providence moved to 0-8 on the season. Sophomore Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) led the Friar offense with a home run in the Friars' first game of the day against Boston College. She followed with an RBI double and scored a run in the second game versus nationally-ranked Duke.
VS. BOSTON COLLEGE NOTES (GAME ONE)
• The Friars got on the scoreboard (1-0) in the bottom of the first after Hanna Aldrich (Taunton, Mass.) hit an RBI single, scoring Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.).
• The Eagles tied the score in the second inning with an unearned run (1-1).
• Smith registered two RBI in the bottom of the second to give Providence a 3-1 lead.
• Dunn homered home in the fourth inning to extend the team's lead to 4-1.
• The momentum swung in favor of Boston College in the seventh inning as the Eagles added five runs to take a 6-4 lead and claim the win.
• Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) pitched the game for the Friars. The graduate student faced 24 batters, struck out five and conceded four hits and four runs.
VS. NO.12 DUKE (GAME TWO)
• Duke struck first with a run in the top of the first inning. The Blue Devils added another run in the second and five more in the third to jump out to a 7-0 lead.
• The Friars rallied in the fourth after Dunn hit an RBI double to score Aldrich. Rachael Petraca (Tampa, Fla.) subsequently scored Dunn after hitting a single to shortstop.
• Duke added three more runs in the fifth to bring the score to 10-2. The Friars were unable to answer in the bottom of the inning, ending the game in five innings.
• Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) spent four innings in the circle for the Friars. She recorded two strikeouts while conceding seven hits and six earned runs.

The Friars will round out Bubly Invitational play with a rematch against Binghamton tomorrow, February 16, at 10:00 a.m.
