PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team was defeated by the Georgetown Hoyas (13-28, 4-16 BIG EAST), 6-2, on Saturday, April 27 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars fell to 19-21-1 overall record and a 9-11 mark in BIG EAST play. Sophomore
Gabriella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) led the Friars going 2-for-3 at the plate.
GAME NOTES
-GU opened the scoring with a home run in the top of the third.
-The Friars took a one-run lead in the bottom of the third following RBIs by Lee and
Emma Eichten (Alamo, Calif.).
Sara MacKinnon (Danbury, Conn.) and
Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) crossed the plate.
-The Hoyas took a 6-2 advantage after scoring two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.
-The Friars were unable to find the answer in the remaining innings and the game finished with a final score of 6-2 in favor of the Hoyas.

Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.),
Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) and
Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) all spent time in the circle for the Friars. The three pitchers combined for seven strikeouts while conceding 11 hits and three earned runs.

The Friars close out the three-game set versus the Hoyas tomorrow, April 28 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. First pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 12:00 p.m. For fans unable to attend, the match will be available for stream on FloSports. Tomorrow's game will honor PC softball's seniors and co-captains, Grifone and Harrington.
