PROVIDENCE, R.I.-The Providence College softball team (18-19, 8-10 BIG EAST) is scheduled to play Boston University (40-4, 12-0 Patriot League) in a doubleheader in Boston, Mass. on Tuesday, April 24 starting at 3:00 p.m. The Friars will turnaround to host the Georgetown Hoyas (12-27, 3-15 BIG EAST) in a three-game series on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. beginning on Friday, April 26.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars enter the weekend with an 18-19 overall record including an 8-10 mark in BIG EAST action. This week, Providence will honor its two seniors/co-captains:
Jacque Harrington and
Tori Grifone.
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.), a catcher, has had an outstanding career with the Friars. Harrington has played 148 games for the Friars with 146 starting lineup appearances. Harrington has accumulated several awards and recognitions including All-BIG EAST Second Team (2022) and BIG EAST Player of the Week (4/15/24). Over her collegiate career, she has recorded 29 home runs, 87 RBI and 87 runs. Harrington has been a key player for the Friars, currently owning a .330 batting average, .600 slugging percentage and a .414 on-base percentage. She leads the team in hits (38), RBI (24) and runs (25).
Grifone, a pitcher, has played all four seasons with the Friars. Grifone has averaged a 3.23 ERA across all seasons while earning the Friars 18 total wins. Grifone has also been a dominant force on the Friar offense, with a career total 54 hits, 37 RBI, eight home runs and 17 runs. She recently helped the Friars to a three-game sweep over DePaul after recording a home run and an RBI single while striking out five in game-three against the Blue Demons that earned herself her first win of the season.
SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Terriers enter the week with a 40-4 overall record including a 12-0 undefeated mark in Patriot League play. The Terriers also boast an 11-0 mark at home. BU most recently swept Bucknell University in a three-game series over the weekend.
Lauren Keleher has been a noteworthy player for the Terriers, having started and played all 44 games this season. Keleher owns a .435 batting average, .694 slugging percentage, .511 on base percentage, 64 hits, 35 RBI (seven HR) and 43 runs. Following suit is Kayla Roncin with a team-high 70 hits, .422 batting average, 36 RBI and 35 runs.
Kasey Ricard and Allison Boaz command the circle for BU. Richard and Boaz hold a 1.23 and 1.73 ERA, respectively. Richard has posted 194 shutouts while conceding 76 hits and 28 earned runs over 159.0 innings. Boaz has recorded 74 strike outs while allowing 73 hits and 25 earned runs over 101.0 innings.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
The Hoyas enter the week with a 12-27 overall record including a 3-15 mark in BIG EAST play. Georgetown was most recently bested in a three-game set against St. John's. The Hoyas will play Towson University today (April 23) in Towson, Md. before facing Providence.
Dayanara Campos leads the Hoya offense with a .327 batting average, 33 hits, 35 RBI (10 HR) and 20 runs. Julia Parker and Kayla Dunn reside in the circle for Georgetown, owning a 5.28 ERA and 5.84 ERA, respectively. Over 93.2 innings, parker has shut out 40 batters while allowing 99 hits and 55 earned runs. Dunn has registered 97 strikeouts while conceding 138 hits and 75 earned runs over 115.2 innings.

The Friars will host Brown University (15-20, 7-8 Ivy League) in an Ocean-State matchup on Wednesday, May 1 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. First pitch will be thrown at 6:00. For fans unable to attend, the game will also be broadcast on FloSports.
