Cole Dewhurst and Brendan McSorley scored for the Friars.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Men's soccer team fell to the University of Massachusetts, 3-2, on Saturday, Sept. 9 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Cole Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.) recorded a goal and an assist, while Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J) marked his third goal of the season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-UMass scored in the third minute of the game after Nick Zielonka's free-kick was headed in by Aidan Kelly.
-UMass extended its lead to 2-0 after a goal by Alec Hughes in the 14th minute. Zielonka and Englebert were both awarded assists.
-Mitchel Varley (Portsmouth, N.H.) recorded two shots on goal during the first half for the Friars.
-Providence maintained 60% of possession in the first half.
-The Friars retaliated early in the second half with an almost identical goal as UMass' first. Dewhurst scored his second goal of the season with a header off a free kick. The ball was sent in off the foot of Pearse O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn.).
-PC tied the game at 2-2 with in the 76th minute. McSorley marked his third goal on the season. Dewhurst and Miguel Candela (Caceres, Spain) assisted.
-The Minutemen quickly put themselves back on top with a goal by Zielonka just 31 seconds later.

(2-0) UMass-13:47/1st- Hughes scored the second goal for the Minutemen off an assist by both Zielonka and Jack Englebert.
(2-1) Providence-47:16/2nd- Dewhurst's header found the back of the net following a free-kick by O'Brien.
(2-2) Providence-75:58/2nd- McSorley tied the game for the Friars after a shot to the low left corner of the goal.
