CHICAGO, ILL, - The Providence College men's soccer team earned a 3-2 road victory over DePaul on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Wish Field in Chicago, Ill. With the win, the Friars improved to 6-6-2 (4-2-1 BIG EAST), while the Blue Demons dropped 2-8-6 (0-6-1 BIG EAST). Three different Friars found the back of the net.

GAME FLOWS & NOTES
• DePaul opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Jordan Clagette finished off a pass from Chrisian Baumgartner.
• Providence responded before halftime when
Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) scored his third goal of the season in the 43rd minute, assisted by
Fernando Garcia Gil (Granada, Spain).
• The Blue Demons regained the lead early in the second half on a goal by Tyler Flowers in the 53rd minute.
• The Friars answered quickly as
Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) netted a header for his team-high fifth goal of the season in the 72nd minute off an assist from
Pearse O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn.).
• Just three minutes later,
Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) converted from the penalty spot to give Providence the 3-2 advantage with 15 minutes remaining.
• The Friars back line of

Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal) helped hold off late pressure from DePaul.

BIG EAST STANDINGS UPDATE
With the win, Providence strengthens its position for postseason play. The Friars' 4-2-1 league record places them in the mix with three other teams for third and fourth place in the league standings. The top four teams in league play qualify for the BIG EAST tournament on Nov. 13-16 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.
