The Friars and Bluejays will play in Omaha, Neb., at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team (4-2-1) will travel to Omaha, Neb. to face the No. 14 Creighton Bluejays (6-0-2) in their BIG EAST opener on Sept. 18. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. (ET) at Morrison Stadium and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
The Friars enter Friday's match after a 3-2 setback at Bryant University on Saturday, Sept. 12. Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) and Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) each scored for the Friars.
The Friars have scored 18 goals in their first seven games this season. They also hold a 53-38 advantage in shots on goal. The team has outshot opponents, 104-93, and has averaged 15 shots per game.
Maneiro leads the Friars with 11 points through the first seven games. He has five goals and one assist. Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) and Garrepy are both close behind with 10 points. Ventrella leads the team with six assists and has also scored two goals. Garrepy has five goals.
Defensively, the Friars have conceded 11 goals. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started every match this season, collecting 27 saves and a .711 save percentage. He averages 3.8 saves per game. Freshman Ian Morel (Pawtucket, R.I.), junior Brandon Marshall (Wake Forest, N.C.) and junior Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal), Steban Lopera (Revere, Mass.) have been anchoring the defense.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CREIGHTON…
The Friars are 8-6-3 all-time against the Bluejays. Providence and Creighton last met Sept. 28, 2024, on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The match finished in a 2-2 tie.
SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS…
Creighton comes into Friday's game with a 6-0-2 record and is coming off a decisive 3-1 win against Yale. On Sept. 15, the Bluejays were announced as the No. 14 ranked team by the United Soccer Coaches National Poll. The Bluejays have scored 28 goals through their first eight matches. Five different players have scored four or more goals. Defender Matthew Reed leads the Bluejays with seven goals. Reed was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8. Carter Tavares has tallied four goals and five assists for the Bluejays. Tavares claimed the first two BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors as well as Offensive Player of the Week on Aug 26.
