CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Providence College men's soccer team defeated Xavier, 3-2, on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Corcoran Field in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Friars improved to 3-5-1 (1-1-0 BIG EAST), while the Musketeers dropped to 3-3-2 (0-1-1 BIG EAST). Three different Friars found the back of the net, including freshman Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) and seniors Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) and Ian Abbey (Elmer, N.J.).

GAME FLOWS & NOTES
• The Friars scored just six minutes into the match (6:00), when Ventrella tallied his second goal of the season off a setup from Fernando Garcia Gil.
• Providence doubled its lead in the 29th minute (28:42), as Montalto buried his second goal of the year, assisted by Bruno Rosa.
• Xavier cut the deficit before halftime, 2-1. Cooper Forcellini converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute (44:35) for his eighth goal of the year.
• Abbey gave the Friars a two-goal advantage in the 74th minute (73:01) with an unassisted finish.
