PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Villanova on Saturday, April 23 on Glay Field. The Friars fall to 23-16 and 9-8 in BIG EAST play with the loss.
GAME NOTES
- The teams battled through three scoreless innings to open the game.
- Villanova opened the scoring in the top of the fourth on Megan Kern's solo home run.

Micaela Abbatine's (Warwick, N.Y.) diving catch in the top of the seventh preserved the one-run deficit.
- Singles by
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) and
Lea Kosinski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) tried to jump-start a rally in the bottom of the seventh, but the Friars couldn't push across the equalizer. Kosinski finished the day at 3-for-4.

Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) went the distance, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out 11 Wildcats.

The Friars and Wildcats will conclude their series on Sunday, April 24 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. beginning at 12 p.m.
