PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will host Villanova University in a three-game BIG EAST series beginning on Friday, April 22 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars will then welcome Boston College to Glay Field on Tuesday, April 26.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars enter the weekend with a 23-14 overall record and a 9-6 record in BIG EAST play.
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) continues to pace the Friars lineup batting a .348 average. She leads the team in hits (39), RBIs (24) and homeruns (9).
Lea Kosinski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) has posted a .348 batting average over 25 games. In the Friars win over Bryant on April 19, Kosinski hit her third homerun of the season.
Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.),
Lyndsey Evix (Cumberland, Md.) and Harrington also contributed homeruns versus Bryant.
Grifone leads the pitching staff with a 2.86 ERA, 10-7 record and 134 strikeouts through 102.2 innings.
Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) holds an 8-4 record with 73 strikeouts through 85.1 innings.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats enter the series with a 23-19 overall record and a 10-4 record in conference play.
Villanova has four players batting over .300 this season, led by Chloe Smith (.349) and Kelsey White (.328). Smith paces the Wildcats with a team-high 45 hits. Megan Kern has also made an impact at the plate with 25 RBIs this season.
Paige Rauch leads Villanova in the circle, pitching 98.1 innings this season. She holds a 11-5 record and has struck out 114 batters. Sara Kennedy has pitched 65.0 innings this season, registering a 3.34 ERA while striking out 36 batters.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
Boston College holds a 19-21 overall record heading into the weekend. Before playing Providence, the Eagles will face North Carolina State in a three-game series (April 22, 23 and 24).
Boston College is led by Ellie Mataya at the plate this season. She leads the team in batting average (.348) and hits (46). Nicole Giery has recorded a team-high 19 RBIs while posting a .289 batting average.
Susannah Anderson has started 18 games for the Eagles, posting a 9-10 record, a 2.91 ERA, and 76 strikeouts over 118.0 innings pitched. Peyton Schnackenberg has started 15 games, registering a 4.04 ERA over 90.0 innings. As a staff, opponents have batted .256 against the Eagles this season.

The Friars will face Butler University on April 29 in Indianapolis, Ind. to begin a three-game BIG EAST series.
