PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team fell to the Villanova Wildcats, 5-0, on Friday, April 22 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. Providence falls to 23-15 overall and 9-7 in conference play.
GAME NOTES
-Villanova got on the board first in the third inning taking a 2-0 advantage. Chloe Smith and Sydney Hayes both scored on a Providence fielding error.
-The Wildcats' Ryan Henry homered to right field in the fourth inning extending their lead to three, 3-0.
-The top of the seventh inning sealed the win for Villanova, as they scored two insurance runs to build a 5-0 lead. The Wildcats plated two with an RBI double by Angela Giampolo.

Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.),
Lea Kosinski (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) and
Lauren Nunez (Rowland Heights, Calif.) recorded the only hits for Providence.

Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) pitched a complete game for the Friars. She was the pitcher of record falling to 8-5 on the season and struck out six batters in the process.

The Friars will face Villanova in game two-of-three on Saturday, April 23 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
