PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Elysia Cunnigan's (Corona, Calif.) RBI double in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the difference as the Providence College softball team defeated Georgetown, 6-5, on Saturday (April 2) at Glay Field. With the win, Providence improves to 20-9 and 7-4 in BIG EAST play.
GAME NOTES
-Georgetown raced out to a 3-0 lead after a half inning after RBI hits by Kayla Dunn and Cameron Condo.
-The Friars responded to take the lead in the bottom of the second with a four-run outburst, led by
Rachael Petrarca's (Clearwater, Fla.) bases loaded double that knocked in three runs.
- Providence extended the lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth after Cunnigan scored on a passed ball.
- The Hoyas tied the game in the top of the fifth on Dunn's RBI double.
- Cunnigan was a big factor in the bottom of the sixth, as her RBI double off the top of the fence in left-center gave the Friars a 6-5 lead.

Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) pitched the final three innings in relief, earning the win while only allowing two hits and striking out three.

The Friars and Hoyas will conclude their series on Sunday, April 3 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. beginning at 11 a.m.
