QUEENS, N.Y. – The Providence College softball team fell to the St. John's Red Storm, 4-1, in Queens, N.Y. on Monday (April 19). The Friars were scoreless throughout six innings until a home run by
Gianna Magrino (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) in the top of the seventh inning.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-St. John's offense outhit Providence, 7-5, to help secure a 4-1 win.
-Both teams were scoreless through three innings, until the Red Storm capitalized off a home run by Gretchen Bowie in the bottom of the fourth.
-Gabriella Conca hit another home run for the Red Storm in the bottom of the fourth, improving the teams lead, 3-0.
-The Friars got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning with a home run from
Gianna Magrino.

Sarah Gunderson (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) earned the start in the circle and struck out five, pitching 3.2 innings and giving up four hits. She was the pitcher of record and gave up three earned runs.
Julia Murphy (Pittsfield, Mass.) relieved Gunderson pitching the sixth and seventh inning. Murphy gave up three hits.
- Providence falls to 2-11 on the season.

Providence will host Butler University at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. for a three-game series on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25.
