PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team defeated the Brown Bears, 6-0, on Wednesday, April 3 on the campus of Brown University. The Friars improve to 21-12 overall and this win marked their sixth-straight victory.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
-The Friars gained an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and led wire-to-wire to pick up the 6-0 win over Brown.

Jessica Tomaso (Milford, Mass) led the charge in the first inning, singling through the left side to plate
Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.), who reached base to start the inning with a bunt single.
- The Friars gained a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning when
Mackensie Compton (Langhorne, Pa.) hit a RBI single to right field to score
Vanessa Portillo (Chatsworth, Calif.).
Crista San Antonio (East Meadow, N.Y.) followed with a sacrifice fly to left field for her eighth RBI of the season, Portillo scored on the play.
- Providence tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to build a 5-0 lead. Portillo reached base on a fielder's choice, with the bases loaded, allowing
Danielle Towle (Bridgewater, N.J.) to cross the plate. Tomaso picked up her second RBI of the day and 17
th RBI of the season, after plating Lee with an RBI single.
- Portillo sealed the win with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth for Providence's 6-0 win.

Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) and
Julia Murphy (Pittsfield, Mass.) combined to pitch the shutout. Trinidad went four innings, allowing five hits while striking out two batters. She was the pitcher of record and earned to win to improve to 3-2 on the season. Murphy closed the game pitching the final three innings, she allowed one hit and struck out two batters.
- Providence combined for 13 hits in the game and saw three multi-hit efforts. Lee and
Alison Abbatiello (North Salem, N.Y.) tallied two hits apiece, while Tomaso picked up three hits.

Providence returns to conference play with a road series against Villanova on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7.
