PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 25 Providence College field hockey team will host Georgetown and Rider this weekend for the program's final regular-season home matches of 2019. The Friars will face BIG EAST foe Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 25 at 3:00 p.m., followed by a non-conference game against Rider on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. Prior to Sunday's game, the team will honor its seven seniors and two graduate students. Both matches will be played at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE:
• Providence College enters the weekend with an 10-5 overall record, including a 3-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
• Providence has earned victories in five of its last six games, including three-straight wins heading into this weekend.
• The Friars made their season debut in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll at No. 25 on Oct. 15 and have remained in the national poll at No. 25 for a second-straight week (Oct. 22).
• Providence is 1-4 vs. nationally ranked opponents this season. The Friars defeated 24
th-ranked Maine, 5-4, in overtime, but have fallen to No. 13 Boston College (2-1), No. 22 Old Dominion (4-3, 2OT/SO), No. 6 Louisville (2-0) and No. 3 Connecticut (3-0). Additionally, the Friars suffered a 2-1 setback at Fairfield on Sept. 22 and the Stags entered the national poll the following week at No 23.
• The Friars have played 10 unranked opponents this season and have held a 27-8 advantage in goals during those matches, including four shut-out victories.
• Fourteen players on the roster have scored at least one point, including 12 different goal scorers.
• Senior
Izzy Mendez (Cedar Grove, N.J.) leads the Friars in scoring with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. Each of her offensive totals are single-season career highs. Mendez is the first player to score 20+ points in a season since Adrienne Houle '17 tallied 21 points during the 2016 campaign.
• Senior
Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) is second on the team in scoring with 12 points on three goals and a team-best six assists. Her 12 points and six assists mark single-season career highs.
• Junior
Olivia Ward (Havelock North, New Zealand) and sophomore
Niamh Gowing (Dublin, Ireland) have cracked double-digits in the scoring column with 10 points each. Ward owns five goals, while Gowing has chipped in four goals and two assists.

Lydia Rice (Carle Place, N.Y.) has played 959:04 minutes in the cage this season and owns a 1.38 goals against average and a 0.711 save percentage. Four of her 10 victories this season have been shutouts.
• The Friars have posted a 3-1 record in overtime games this season, including a 2-1 mark in games decided by a penalty shootout. Over the last five years, Providence has earned a 12-5 record in overtime games, including a 9-1 mark vs. BIG EAST Conference opponents. The lone blemish in OT during that span came against No. 22 Old Dominion (4-3; 2OT/SO) earlier this season on Sept. 20.
• The Friars were picked to finish third in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Aug. 23. The team is currently ranked No. 4 in the league standings with a 3-2 mark. A victory in one of the Friars' last two league games will automatically clinch a spot in the four-team BIG EAST Tournament on Nov. 8-10.
• Providence leads the all-time series against Georgetown, 15-2, including a 12-1 marks since the Hoyas joined the BIG EAST for field hockey in 2006. The only loss came during the 2011 campaign, 3-2, in overtime.
• Two of the last three matches against the Hoyas have been decided in overtime, with both of those matches being played in Washington, D.C. Last season, the Friars defeated the Hoyas in a shootout, 2-1. In that match, Georgetown held an 8-7 advantage in shots. Providence led in shots on goal (5-4) and penalty corners (5-2).
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN:
• Georgetown enters the weekend with a 5-11 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. The Hoyas are in the midst of an eight-game winless streak, dating back to Sept. 27 when they fell to league opponent Quinnipiac in a shootout (2-1).
• Cami Osborne is the lone player on the roster with double-digit points (13), having recorded six goals and one assist. She leads the team in shot attempts (32) and shots on goal (25).
• Ellie Maransky and Lindsay Getz are tied for second in scoring with nine points. They have each tallied four goals and one assist. Michaela Bruno rounds out the list of players who have scored multiple goals this season. She ranks fourth on the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists.
• Five different players have scored goals for Georgetown during BIG EAST Conference play, with Bruno leading the way in points (three) on one goal and one assist.
• Ciara Weets has played 750 minutes in goal for the Hoyas and owns a 1.84 goals against average and a 0.758 save percentage. She has compiled a 5-8 overall record and a 1-4 mark in conference action. Megan Maynes has logged 259 minutes in the cage and has posted an 0-3 record to go along with a 3.24 goals against average and a 0.659 save percentage.
SCOUTING RIDER:
• Rider enters the weekend with a 10-4 overall record, including an impressive 7-2 record on the road. The Broncs will host Bryant on Oct. 25 in Lawrenceville, N.J. before making their way to Providence on Sunday. Rider is currently in second place in the Northeast Conference with a 3-1 record.
• Rider and Providence have three common opponents this season, and the teams have identical results in those matches. The Friars and Broncs each defeated Villanova and Merrimack, and both lost to Fairfield.
• Julia DiVorra (13) and Carly Brosious (11) have combined to score 24 of Rider's 39 goals this season, and each player has recorded 30+ points on the year. DiVorra leads the offense with 32 points, while Brosious checks in with 31 points and a team-high nine assists.
• DiVorra and Brosious are ranked in the top-10 among NCAA Division I field hockey players in points per game. DiVorra also ranks eighth in the nation in goals per game. They are the catalysts on an offense that ranks 15
th overall in NCAA Division I in goals per game (2.79).
• Tess van Ommeren has reached double figures in the points column, with 13, on five goals and three assists. Eight players on the roster have scored at least one goal this season.
• Lena Vandam has played 866:21 minutes in the cage for Rider and owns a 1.52 goals against average and a 0.750 save percentage. She's given up multiple goals to her opponent in just four games this season. She's a two-time NEC Goalkeeper of the Year (2017, 2018).
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Friars close the weekend with a non-conference match against Rider on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. It marks the final regular-season home game of the year at Lennon Family Field. Prior to game, the program will honor its seven seniors and two graduate students.
