PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The No. 25 Providence College field hockey team defeated Georgetown, 2-0, in BIG EAST Conference action on Oct. 25 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 11-5 overall (4-2 BIG EAST) and earned a bid to the 2019 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship in Hamden, Conn. on Nov. 8-10.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
• After a scoreless first quarter that featured three shots by each team, Providence finally got on the board in the second quarter at the 25:15 mark. Senior
Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) found the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the season as she collected a rebound off the Hoyas' goalkeeper Ciara Weets.
• Providence added an insurance goal in the fourth quarter at 53:47 as sophomore
Amanda Collins (San Diego, Calif.) tipped in a feed from graduate student
Corinne Kenney (Warrington, Pa.) at the left post. It marked Collins' third goal of the season.

Lydia Rice (Carle Place, N.Y.) recorded her fifth shutout victory of the season with five saves.
• Providence's upcoming appearance in the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship on Nov. 8-10 will mark its fourth straight. The Friars have qualified for the tournament in 10 of the last 14 season overall.
