LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Providence College Friars competed on the final day of action at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field East Preliminary competition on Saturday, May 30 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.

Junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) competed in the 800-meter quarterfinals. O'Neill finished third in her heat and sixth overall where she completed the race in a program record time of 2:00.72. Twelve of the 24 runners in 800 advance to the semifinals.
Three Friars competed in the 5,000-meter semifinals -- sophomores
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) and Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia) and freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand). Gardiner placed ninth in her heat in a time of 15:55.21. Schmidt was seventh in her heat in a personal best time of 15:55.52. Currie finished 21st in her heat in a time of 16:34.00.

O'Neill will run in the 800 semifinals at the NCAA Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday, June 11 at 9:58 p.m. E.T.
Providence College sophomore Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) qualified in the men's 1,500-meter quarterfinals on Friday. Pugh finished sixth in his heat and sixth overall in a personal best time of 3:39.19. Pugh advances to the 1,500-meter semifinals, which will be run on Wednesday, June 10 at 8:21 PM E.T.
