PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The World Athletics U20 Championships will take place on August 5-9 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. Providence College women's track and field will be represented by sophomore
Gemma Galvin (Clare, Ireland) in the 1,500 meters and incoming freshman Pia Langton (Kilkenny, Ireland) in the 800 and 1,500 meters. Both athletes will be representing Ireland.

Galvin, a two-time BIG EAST Champion as a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team, recently won the 1,500 meters at the Irish U20 Championships in Tullamore, Ireland. At the 2026 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, the rising sophomore placed sixth in the 1,500-meter finals in 4:21.54 and was a member of the 4 x 800 team that won the title in a program, BIG EAST and facility record time of 8:30.87. Galvin owns a personal best time of 4:18.39 in the 1,500 meters.
Langton, an incoming freshman, recently set a personal best time in the 800 meters on July 8 at Cork City Sports in a time of 2:05.72. Prior to Cork City Sports, Langton won the 800 meters at the Irish U20 Championships in Tullamore, Ireland. In the 1,500 meters, Langton has a personal best time of 4:21.77.
The 800-meter first round is schedule for Wednesday, August 5 at 4:25 p.m. ET. The 1,500-meter first round is set for Thursday, August 6 at 10:03 p.m. ET.
