Five Friars finished with first-place results.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational in Worcester, Mass. on Saturday, April 18. Five Friars captured first-place results including Keira Kelly (400 meters), Jack Dowd (800 meters), Ciara Evans (1,500 meters), Emily Bush (2,000-meter steeplechase) and Níamh O'Mahony (5,000 meters).

On the women's side, sophomore Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 6:46.85.

In the 1,500 meters, freshman Ciara Evans (Newton, Mass.) won the event in a personal-best time of 4:29.89. She was followed by freshman teammate Lucia West (Raleigh, N.C.), who placed second (4:32.46) and junior Kaleigh Higgins (Watervliet, N.Y.), who finished ninth (4:47.29).
 
Sophomore Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) won the 400 meters in a personal-best time of 56.49. Senior Elena Cabral (Somerset, Mass.) finished fourth in 59.42.
 
Senior Níamh O'Mahoney (Kerry, Ireland) took home first place in the 5,000 meters in 17:07.17.
 
In the 100 meters, junior Cate Parks (Marion, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Friars in 12.86.
 
Senior Lexi Brent (York, Maine) placed seventh (1:05.83) in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
Sophomore Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.) placed sixth in the 200 meters (25.61) and junior Maggie Kemper was seventh in a personal-best time (25.77). Senior Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) (Huntington, N.Y.) followed in a time of 25.81 to place eighth overall. 
 
In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Charlotte Cousins (Madbury, N.H.) finished seventh in 16.59.
 
On the men's side, freshman Jack Dowd (Pearl River, N.Y.) won the 800 meters in a personal-best time of 1:52.68. Sophomore Liam O'Neill (Natick, Mass.) followed Dowd and finished fourth (1:56.35).

Junior Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) placed second in the 1,500 meters in 3:49.34. Sophomore Adam Wedlake (Westford, Mass.) finished fifth (3:55.66).

In the 400 meters, senior Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.) ran a personal best for the second week in a row in 48.28, placing third. Sophomore Tom Breen (Providence, R.I.) earned fourth in 48.56.

In the field events, junior Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.) placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.92 meters. Senior Nik Ventura (Jamison, Pa.) competed in the triple jump and finished eighth with a mark of 12.77 meters.
