BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. The Friars claimed both the men's and women's mile titles, with freshman
Oliver Neate (Sydney, Australia) winning the men's mile in 4:10.62 and freshman
Gemma Galvin (Clare, Ireland) placing first in the women's mile in 4:51.70. Providence also captured both 3,000-meter finals, with sophomore
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand) winning the men's race in 8:19.04 and senior
Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) taking the women's title in an indoor personal-best time of 9:19.47.

After Galvin, freshman
Emilia O'Leary (East Aurora, N.Y.) placed fifth in the mile in 4:59.21.
Following Buckley in the 3,000 meters was sophomore Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia), who placed second in an indoor personal-best time of 9:20.84. Freshman
Lucia West (Raleigh, N.C.) rounded out the Friars in the event with a fourth-place finish (9:52.86).
In the 1,000 meters, after qualifying for the final on Friday,
Cara Laverty finished second on Saturday in 2:47.05. Following Laverty in the final was sophomore Kaelin McCaffery (Northport, N.Y.), who placed fifth in 2:57.82.
Sophomore
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) qualified for the women's 200-meter final, where she placed fourth overall in 25.08.
On the men's side, following Neate in the mile final was freshman
Jack Dowd (Pearl River, N.Y.), who finished fifth in 4:13.55. Sophomore
Adam Wedlake (Westford, Mass.) placed eighth (4:16.83), while junior Nicholas Cassarino (Durham, Conn.) rounded out the top 10 with a ninth-place finish in 4:17.24.
Following Prescott in the 3,000 meters was sophomore
Ryan LoCicero (Bloomfield, N.J.), who finished second in 8:21.53.
The Friars had strong finishes in the 1,000 meters, where junior
Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) placed second in the final in 2:27.59. Sophomore
Ryan Welch (Wyckoff, N.J.) also qualified for the final and finished fifth in 2:31.31.
Providence had two runners in the men's 800-meter final, including freshman
Matt McCabe (Marshfield, Mass.) and junior
Owen Comiskey (Sherborn, Mass.). McCabe finished fifth (1:54.96), while Comiskey placed sixth (1:59.23).
Senior
Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.) qualified for the final in the 400 meters, where he finished sixth in 49.42.
In the field events, junior
Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.) finished eighth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.91 meters. Senior
Nik Ventura (Jamison, Pa.) competed in the triple jump and placed ninth with a mark of 12.97 meters.
The Friars will wrap up the indoor season on Friday, March 13 when junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) competes in the 800 meters at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
