The Friars will welcome Boston College to Glay Field for a midweek matchup.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team (14-12, 7-2 BIG EAST) is set to host Boston College (10-23, 2-7 ACC) on Tuesday, March 31 at 4:00 p.m. on Glay Field in Providence, R.I.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence heads into Tuesday's matchup with a 14-12 overall record and a 7-2 mark in BIG EAST play. The Friars are coming off a weekend series win at Seton Hall, where they took two of three games. They also opened conference play with a program-best 7-1 start. Additionally, their eight-game winning streak, which also tied a school record, came to an end over the weekend.

The Friars have three players who are closing in on 100 career hits. Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.), Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.) and Elisa Smith (Glenn Allen, Va.) are all within single digits of the milestone.

Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas) leads the Friars with a .407 batting average. Last week she was named BIG EAST Player of the Week following a standout performance in Providence's series sweep of DePaul. The senior batted .667 (6-for-9) with seven RBI and five runs scored, while posting a .889 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage for the series.

Dunn has had an impressive season for Providence so far. The infielder has been featured on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll three times and leads the team with 29 RBI, 10 home runs and a .919 slugging percentage. Her ten home runs are tied for second in the BIG EAST and her .919 slugging percentage puts her at second in the conference.

In the circle, junior Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) leads the pitching staff with a 6-1 record and a 3.23 ERA. She has recorded 35 strikeouts in 39.0 innings pitched. Twomey's 3.23 ERA ranks second in the BIG EAST.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE

The Eagles come into Tuesday's game with a 10-23 record, losing four straight. The Eagles are led offensively by Abby Ptak, who is hitting an impressive .447 with multiple extra-base hits and a team-high OPS (1.136). The Eagles have shown flashes of offensive production, including a six-run inning in a recent win over Pitt.

In the circle, the Eagles are led by Emily Van Cleef, who has a 5-4 record and 43 innings pitched. Kelly Colleran has also been strong in the circle for the Eagles, pitching over 56 innings and recording a team high 42 strikeouts.
