The Friars will play a mid-week doubleheader against the Skyhawks and a three-game series versus the Red Storm over the weekend.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team will host the Stonehill Skyhawks (4-11, 1-2 NEC) in a mid-week doubleheader on March, 20. First pitch of game one is set to be thrown at 3:00 p.m on Glay Field. The Friars are then set to play the St. John's Red Storm (13-13, 4-2 BIG EAST) in a three-game series beginning on March, 22 in Providence, R.I. All games will be broadcasted on FloSports.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars enter this week with a 7-12 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the BIG EAST. Providence was most recently swept in a three-game series against the Villanova Wildcats (March 15-17).
Junior Hanna Aldrich (Taunton, Mass.) has consistently led the Friar offense all season. She currently boasts a .353 batting average, 18 hits, nine RBI and one home run.
Senior and co-captain Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) has started all 19 games for the Friars and currently leads the team in RBI with 12. Harrington excelled at the plate against Villanova, going 4-for-7 at the plate along with an impressive .875 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage.
Freshman pitcher Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) has guided the Friars to four wins. With a 3.57 ERA and 50 strikeouts across 47 innings pitched, Twomey has surrendered just 24 earned runs and 40 hits.
SCOUTING STONEHILL
The Skyhawks currently hold a 4-11 overall record and a 1-2 record in NEC play. Stonehill most recently fell to Siena College, 10-1, in a five-inning game on March 19.
Sophomore Natalie Bottiglieri leads the Skyhawk offense with a .302 batting average, 13 hits, four RBI and eight runs. Junior Shannon Conte has aided Stonehill with a team-high eight RBI.
Junior Skylar Brandemarte has commanded the circle for the Skyhawks with a 4.24 ERA, 12 strikeouts while conceding 22 earned runs and 49 hits.
SCOUTING THE RED STORM
The Red Storm enter series play with a 14-14 overall record and a 4-2 mark in BIG EAST play. St. John's most recently earned a split against the Wagner Seahawks in a doubleheader on March 19.
Cassidy Stouffer leads the Red Storm with a .338 batting average, 15 RBI, 22 hits and eight runs scored. London Jarrad boasts a team-best 33 RBI, .626 slugging percentage and a.386 on-base percentage.
Over 62 innings pitched, Loreley Fancia has posted a 2.71 ERA while striking out 69 batters and conceding 24 earned runs and 67 hits.
ON DECK
The Friars will travel to Storrs, Conn. to play in a three-game series against the University of Connecticut Huskies (13-11, 3-0 BIG EAST). The series kicks off with the first game scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at 7:00 p.m., followed by a double-header on March 30 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. All matchups will be broadcasted on FloSports.
