VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Providence College softball team was defeated by Villanova University, 11-3, in six innings on Saturday, May 6 in Villanova, Pa.
GAME NOTES
-The Wildcats started off strong offensively scoring five runs in the first inning. Tess Cites scored on a fly ball and then Kelsey White fired off a grand slam to clear the bases.
-Ava Franz extended the Wildcats lead to 6-0 with an RBI single in the second inning.
-Sophomore
Kaelyn Loncharich (Yucaipa, Calif.) got the Friars on the board in the third inning with a two RBI single to right center field. Junior
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) and sophomore
Rachael Petrarca (Clearwater, Fla.) scored the runs for the Friars, 6-2.
-The Wildcats added insurance to their lead in the bottom of the third with an RBI triple from Dani Dabroski and an RBI single from Cites.
-Senior
Tiana Wren (Glen Lyon, Penn.) singled to the left side to bring sophomore
Gabriella Sebastian (Ramsey, N.J.) home, 8-3.
-Villanova scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game in six innings.
-Senior
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) pitched 0.2 innings for the Friars allowing three hits and five runs. Freshman
Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) pitched the remaining 4.2 innings surrendering six earned runs.

The Friars will face Villanova in the final game of the series on Sunday, May 7 at 12:00 p.m.
