PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team is set to face Villanova University in its final three-game regular season series in Villanova, Pa. The games are slated for May 5, May 6 and May 7.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars enter the series with a 15-29 overall record and 6-15 BIG EAST record. Providence went 3-1 last week beating Brown, 3-2, in eight innings on April 26 and sweeping Creighton in a double-header on April 28.
Junior
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) continues to pace the Friars lineup, as she is hitting a team-high .360 batting average. She also leads the team in hits (49), RBIs (31) and home runs (9). Sophomore
Emma Douma (Midland Park, N.J.) and sophomore
Rachael Petrarca (Clearwater, Fla.) have also made an impact at the plate for the Friars. Douma has recorded 32 hits, 18 RBIs and four home runs. Petrarca has tallied 25 hits and 16 RBIs including an RBI line drive in the seventh inning to send the Friars into extra innings in their 6-5 win over Creighton on April 28.
Senior
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) and freshman
Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) have been the pitchers of record this season. Cunnigan has pitched 52.1 innings striking out 26 batters. Quirk has pitched a team-high 84.0 innings and has recorded 34 strikeouts.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats hold a 32-20 overall record and 15-6 BIG EAST record. Villanova went 2-1 in its three-game series against Seton Hall on April 28 and April 30.
Junior Tess Cites has recorded a team-best .364 batting average. She has registered a team-high 63 hits, 36 RBIs and five home runs. Graduate student Ryan Henry has tallied 34 hits, a team-high nine home runs and a team-best 37 RBIs for the Wildcats this season.
Freshman Kat Gallant has appeared in 26 games for the Wildcats pitching 114.0 total innings. She has recorded a 2.58 ERA and has struck out a team-best 83 batters.

The Friars' post-season will be determined based on the results of the series this weekend across the league.
