PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will host Brown University on Wednesday, April 26 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars will then welcome Creighton University to Glay Field for a three-game BIG EAST series beginning on Friday, April 28.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars enter Wednesday's game with a 12-28 overall record and 4-14 BIG EAST record.
Junior
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) continues to pace the Friars lineup, as she is hitting a team-high .358 batting average. She also leads the team in hits (44), RBIs (30) and home runs (9). Freshman
Gabriella Lee (Belmont, Calif.) and sophomore
Rachael Petrarca (Clearwater, Fla.) have both tallied 21 hits for the Friars. Additionally, Lee has scored 18 runs for Providence and Petrarca has hit a team-high seven doubles.
Senior
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) and freshman
Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) have been the pitchers of record this season. Cunnigan has pitched 54.2 innings striking out 24 batters. Quirk has pitched a team-high 73.2 innings and has recorded 31 strikeouts.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears come to Glay Field with an 11-24 overall record. Brown went 1-2 in its three-game series against University of Pennsylvania on April 22 and April 23.
Junior Moe Kastens leads the team at the plate registering a .309 batting average. She has recorded 21 hits and five RBIs. Junior Dara English has tallied a team-high 26 hits and 12 RBIs.
Sophomore Alexis Guevara has gone 7-9 in the circle pitching a team-high 106.1 total innings for the Bears. She has recorded a team-best 2.57 ERA allowing 39 earned runs. Additionally, she has struck out a team-high 83 batters.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
The Bluejays hold an 18-27 overall record and 4-14 BIG EAST record. Creighton will face South Dakota in a double-header on Tuesday, April 25 before travelling to Providence.
Junior Cayla Nielsen has recorded a team-best .367 batting average. She has registered 47 hits, 25 RBIs and seven home runs. Freshman Lily West has tallied a team-high 48 hits for the Bluejays this season.
Freshman Natalia Puchino has appeared in 29 games for the Bluejays pitching 135.1 total innings. She has recorded a 3.36 ERA and has struck out a team-best 100 batters.
ON DECK
The Friars will conclude the regular season at Villanova for a three-game series beginning on Friday, May 5.
