NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Providence College softball team was defeated by Merrimack College, 8-2, on Tuesday, April 11 in North Andover, Mass.
GAME NOTES
-The Friars' junior
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) scored on a grounded out in the first inning, 1-0.
-Merrimack's Sofia Palyan hit a two RBI single in the bottom of the first to give the Warriors the 2-1 advantage.
-Madison Cerpa hit a two-run home run to extend the Warriors lead to 6-1 in the second.
-Merrimack added insurance scoring runs in the third and fourth innings, 8-1.
-Freshman
Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.) hit an RBI in the top of the seventh plating freshman
Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.), 8-2.
-Senior
Elysia Cunnigan (Corona, Calif.) started the game for the Friars and surrendered three earned runs on seven hits through 2.0 innings.
-Freshman
Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas) pitched 2.0 innings allowing two hits and two runs.
-Freshman
Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) pitched 2.0 innings of scoreless relief.
ON DECK
The Friars will travel to Stony Brook, N.Y. to face Stony Brook on Saturday, April 15.
