STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Providence College softball team defeated Stony Brook, 12-7, on Saturday, April 15 in Stony Brook, N.Y.
GAME NOTES
-The Seavolves earned a 2-0 advantage with two solo home runs in the second inning.
-The Friars responded with four runs in the top of the third. Freshman Julia Renny (Syosset, N.Y.) hit a two run home run followed by a home run from sophomore Emma Douma (Midland Park, N.J.). Junior Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) also contributed a hit during the run.
-Renny hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth to extend the Friars lead, 5-2.
-The Seawolves came within one in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two run home run from Ashley Jacobson.
-The Friars added insurance to their lead in the top of the seventh scoring eight runs. Douma and Renny hit their second home runs of the game, 12-4.
-Stony Brook's Corinne Badger hit a three run hole run in the bottom of the seventh, 12-7.
-Freshman Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) earned the win in the circle pitching 4.0 innings.

The Friars will travel to Cambridge, Mass. to face Harvard on Tuesday, April 18.
