PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will open BIG EAST play against Seton Hall University on Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11 in a three-game series.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars beat Brown, 6-1, on Tuesday, March 8 improving their record to 10-5 on the season.
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) paces the Friars lineup at the top of the order, as she is hitting .409 on the season and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this week. She also leads the team in hits (18) and RBIs (10).
Micaela Abbatine (Warwick, N.Y.) has also contributed at the plate this season recording 13 hits and a .310 batting average.
Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) has gone 5-2 on the season pitching 44.1 innings and posting a 2.53 RRA. She has held batters to a .243 batting average while striking out 51 players.
Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) has posted a 3.39 ERA pitching 33.0 innings for the Friars. She has held batters to a .236 batting average allowing 33 hits on the season.
SCOUTING SETON HALL
Seton Hall enters the series 7-7 overall in 2022. The Pirates went 2-3 in Libby Mason Tournament, beating Nevada and Pacific.
Abby Wingo leads the pirates at the plate with 18 hits and a .400 batting average. Lauren Caye has recorded five home runs with a .429 batting average on the season.
Shelby Smith has contributed 41.0 innings in the circle holding batters to a .261 batting average. She has allowed 43 hits while striking out 35 batters. Sydney Babik has a 4-2 record on the season and has pitched 36.1 innings. She has struck out 25 batters while holding batters to a .240 batting average.
ON DECK
The Friars will host Merrimack in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 16 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. Game times are set for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
