Softball's Rally Falls Short At Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. - The Providence College softball team rallied from 6-0 down, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh but Creighton pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the inning for the 7-6 win. The Friars drop to 17-9 overall this season and 4-4 in BIG EAST play.

GAME NOTES 

- The Bluejays rushed out to a 6-0 lead after three innings. Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) allowed six earned runs on six hits through 2.1 innings. 

- Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) pitched four innings, allowing just one earned run but ended up suffering the loss to fall to 3-4 this season.

- The Friars got on the board in the fourth inning after Jacque Harrington's (Bedford, N.H.) three-run home run to cut the deficit to 6-3.

- Providence struck for three runs in the seventh inning to tie the game at 6-6. Kari Shedrick's (Apex, N.C.) RBI single, Kaelyn Longcharich's (Yucaipa, Calif.) bases loaded walk and Lauren Nunez's (Rowland Heights, Calif.) RBI single tied the game up going into the bottom of the seventh.

- Creighton's Kiara Mills knocked in the winning run with a one-out double.

The Friars and Bluejays conclude their series on Sunday (March 27) beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
