Former Friar Emily Sisson Wins The 10,000 Meters At U.S. Olympic Trials

Sisson covered the 10K in an Olympic Trials record of 31:03.82.
EUGENE, Ore. - Former Providence College All-American and NCAA Champion Emily Sisson '15 captured the 10,000 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., today (June 26). Sisson, who is coached by Friar Head Coach Ray Treacy, won the race in an Olympic Trials record time of 31:03.82. She will join marathoner Ben Connor '15 of Derby, England as former Friars competing in the Olympic Games this summer in Tokyo.
Sisson captured the lead in the fifth of 25 laps and never looked back. She was running in hot conditions as temperatures reached the mid 80's during the race.
Sisson is one of the most decorated Friars of all-time. She helped the Friar cross country team capture the NCAA Championship in 2013 and she won NCAA titles in the Indoor and Outdoor 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships in 2015. She also won seven BIG EAST titles during her career as a Friar.
