Softball Set To Play Seton Hall In Final Regular Season Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will host the Seton Hall University Pirates for a double header on Saturday, May 8 followed by the series finale on Sunday, May 9 at noon for its final regular season series and senior day. Â

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
Providence holds a 3-15-1 overall record and 2-12-1 mark in the BIG EAST. The Friars most recently fell to UConn in a three-game series, 4-6, 5-8, and 1-4.

Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.)Â holds a team high batting average of .275 with .400 slugging percentage.
Jessica Tomaso (Milford, Mass.) leads the team in home runs (four) and RBI's (nine) as she has posted a .265 batting average this season.
Lyndsey Evix (Cumberland, Md.) has the second-best batting average on the team, hitting .270 at the plate.
Madi Traver (Irving, Texas) and
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) both have two home runs on the season.

The Friars pitching staff is led by
Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.), posting a 2.76 ERA and two wins.
Sarah Gunderson (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and
Tori Grifone follow suit with a 3.78 and 3.90 ERA, respectively.
SCOUTING SETON HALL:
The Pirates enter the weekend with a 8-21 overall record and 4-11 BIG EAST mark. Most recently, Seton Hall dropped two of three games in a BIG EAST midweek series against UConn on Wednesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 6.

Junior Kiana Tate leads the Pirates at the plate with a .304 batting average. Providence will have to watch for Darby Pandolfo who has a team-high five home runs with a .301 hitting percentage and 17 RBI. Senior Janae Barracato has a team-high 25 hits.
Kelsey Carr and Shelby Smith handle most of the work in the circle as they have combined for 151.4 innings pitched. Carr has a 4-8 overall record compared to Smith's 2-10 record. The staff has combined for a 4.75 team ERA.
