VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Providence College softball team fell to the Villanova Wildcats on Sunday, April 7 by a score of 6-0. The Wildcats gained an early lead in the third inning, scoring two runs, as they led throughout to earn the 6-0 victory. Providence falls to 22-14 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
-The Wildcats gained the lead in the bottom of the third inning to gain a 2-0 advantage. Villanova crossed the plate on a throwing error before a solo home run to cap off the inning.
- Villanova increased its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning after a fielder's choice to
Lauren Nunez (Rowland Heights, Calif.).
- The bottom of the sixth inning sealed the win for Villanova, as they scored three insurance runs to build a 6-0 lead with one inning to play. The Wildcats plated two with an RBI double followed by an RBI single.

Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) and
Mackensie Compton (Langhorne, Pa.) recorded the only hits for Providence in the contest.

Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) started in the circle for her 18
th start this season. She was the pitcher of record and fell to 12-5 on the season after going 5.1 innings and giving up four earned runs. Alvarez struck out five batters in the process.
Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) entered the circle to pitch the final two outs, she struck out one while giving up zero earned runs.

Providence will return to action with a non-conference matchup against Central Connecticut State in Hartford, Conn. on Thursday, April 11 at 4:00 p.m.
