Softball Travels To Central Connecticut State

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will look to improve on its 22-14 overall record when they travel to New Britain, Conn. to take on the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils on Thursday, April 11 at 4:00 p.m.
 
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
The Friars hit the road with a 4-5 away record compared to their perfect record at home, 6-0. The team holds a 12-9 record on neutral fields, dating back to their pre-season tournaments in Clearwater, Fla. Most recently, the Friars are coming off a 2-2 week after defeating Brown on Wednesday, April 3, taking the opening game of their weekend series against Villanova on Saturday, April 6 and dropping the final two games at Villanova. Providence now holds a 5-4 conference record, which is good for fourth in the BIG EAST.
 
Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) improved on her stellar senior campaign this past weekend, breaking the all-time hits record in program history with her 215th career hit against Villanova on Saturday, April 6. She has posted a .434 batting average with 46 hits in 106 at-bats. Lee is coming off being recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, April 8. Freshman Jessica Tomaso (Milford, Mass.) has been a threat in the cleanup hole, recording a .310 batting average with three home runs, tied for first on the team with Hadley Tate (Yarmouthport, Mass.). 
 
Providence's pitching staff has been on a tear at this point of the season, having three separate pitchers with a sub 3.00 ERA and at least 45 innings pitched. Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) posts a 12-5 record with 2.08 ERA, a conference best. Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) has started 10 of her 15 appearances for a 3-2 record and 2.40 ERA. Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) has a 7-5 record with a 2.82 ERA in 72 innings pitched.
 
SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE:
The Blue Demons sit at 13-15 overall on the season with a 1-5 conference record in the Northeast Conference. Most recently, Central Connecticut State split a two-game series against Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn.
 
The Friars will have stop Sydney Bolan at the plate, Bolan has a team-high nine home runs and 35 RBI on the season. She posts a .349 batting average and has drawn a team-high 17 walks. Freshman catcher Alexa Milius has a team-high .364 batting average in her rookie season. She has brought in 14 RBI and tallied five doubles.
 
Only two pitchers have entered the circle for the Blue Demons this season, Carley Stoker and Ashley Antonazzo. Stoker has a 6-5 record and 4.39 ERA compared to Antonazzo's 6-7 record and 4.16 ERA. Both pitchers keep the ball in the park, only allowing 10 home runs in 195.1 innings pitched.
 
ON DECK:
Providence travels Chicago, Ill. to play DePaul in a weekend series beginning with a double header on Saturday, April 13 at 12:00 p.m. before the final game on Sunday, April 14 at 12:00 p.m.
