PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will travel to New York, N.Y. to play the Fordham Rams on Wednesday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. The Friars are currently 19-10 in non-conference games this season and hold a 6-8 BIG EAST record, placing them fifth in the BIG EAST standings, a half game back behind Seton Hall for fourth place.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
The Friars are currently 25-18 overall this season with a 6-8 conference mark. Providence lost its first home game of the season this past weekend after dropping the final two games of a three-game series against Seton Hall on Thursday, April 18 and Saturday, April 20. Providence's 2-0 win on April 18 marked its first 25-win season since the 2008 season.
Jessica Tomaso (Milford, Mass.) has a team-high four home runs after hitting a solo home run against Harvard on Tuesday, April 16.
Vanessa Portillo (Chatsworth, Calif.) leads the team with 25 RBI. She now has three home runs on the season and holds a .242 batting average.
Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) leads the team in batting average with a .420 mark and .519 slugging percentage. Lee's 17-game hitting streak was snapped on Saturday, April 20 against Seton Hall.
Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) improved her record to 14-6 with a 2.27 ERA after earning the win against Seton Hall on April 18. She has pitched 11 complete games and picked up her fourth shutout after blanking Seton Hall, 2-0. She eclipsed 100 strikeouts on the season after striking out four batters in her win on Thursday.
Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) and
Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) have combined for 10 wins in the circle. McCune is 7-8 with a 3.29 ERA while Trinidad is 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA.
SCOUTING FORDHAM:
The Rams are 22-20 this season with a 14-3 A-10 record. Fordham is coming off 10-straight wins, including series sweeps against St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis and Saint Joseph's while also picking up a non-conference win against Hofstra.
Maria Trivelpiece leads the Rams with a .369 batting average while starting all 42 games. She has 24 RBI on the season and a team-high .436 on base percentage. Fordham has combined to hit 42 home runs, with Molly Roark leading the way with 13 home runs on the season. Jordy Storm and Rachel Hubertus have each hit nine home runs.
Madie Aughinbaugh leads the team in the circle, posting a 2.69 ERA and 13-9 overall record. She has pitched a team-high 148.1 innings and has struck out 105 batters. Aughinbaugh has started 24 of her 28 appearances and has pitched 16 complete games with one shutout.

The Friars will host Butler in a three-game series with a double header on Saturday, April 27 beginning at 12:00 p.m. before the series finale on Sunday, April 28 at 12:00 p.m.
