PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball team will travel to cross-town rival Brown University on Wednesday, April 3 for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch. The Friars are coming off five-straight wins, defeating Bryant, Rhode Island and sweeping BIG EAST preseason favorite, Creighton, last week.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
Providence has won 10 of its last 12 games dating back to the USF-Michelle Smith Pediatric Cancer Spring Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. The Friars are currently 20-12 overall and 4-2 in BIG EAST play this season. They are third in the BIG EAST behind St. John's and DePaul.
Emma Lee (Orange, Calif.) continues to pace the Friars lineup at the top of the order, as she is hitting .419 on the season, ranking her second in the BIG EAST and 59
th nationally. Lee holds a .476 on base percentage due in part to her league-leading 39 hits.
Jessica Tomaso (Milford, Mass.) is another bat to look out for in the Friars' lineup, she has a .297 batting average and was recently named BIG EAST Player of Week (April 1). Tomaso hit two walk-offs in her heroic week, the first coming against Rhode Island and the second was a grand slam to defeat Creighton, 5-3, on Saturday, March 30. Providence now has 10 separate players with home runs on the season.
Megan McCune (Orange, Calif.) hit a line drive home run for her first of the season against Rhode Island on Wednesday, March 27.
Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) was awarded BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday, April 1, paired with Tomaso in the BIG EAST Weekly Awards, after going 3-0 on the week and posting a 1.83 ERA. She is now 11-4 on the season with nine complete games. Her strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.82) ranks first in the BIG EAST and 39
th nationally. Alvarez also holds the lowest ERA (2.00) in the conference.

Miranda Trinidad (La Habra, Calif.) have been Head Coach
Jill Karwoski's other options in the circle. McCune has started seven games while Trinidad has started eight. Each of Providence's three starters hold a sub 3.00 ERA to rank its staff first in the BIG EAST with a 2.37 ERA combined.
SCOUTING BROWN:
The Brown Bears are 8-13 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Most recently, the team was swept by the Harvard Crimson in three games on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30.
Sophomore Madi Cranford has been a threat at the plate, posting a .471 batting average on 24 hits, nine of which went for extra bases. She has recorded a team-high 11 RBI and is tied for first on the team in home runs with three. Cranford is tough to strikeout as she has only been rang up two times in 51 at-bats.
Freshman Lauren Innerst has pitched the most innings (55.1) on the team through its first 21 games. Innerst holds a 3-4 record and 2.40 ERA.
ON DECK:
Providence will return to BIG EAST play when the team travels to Villanova for a weekend series, with a double header on Saturday, April 6 and the series finale on Sunday, April 7.
