Babineau and Mendez each find the back of the net in a 2-1 win over New Hampshire.

DURHAM, N.H. - The Providence College field hockey team defeated the University of New Hampshire, 2-1, on Friday, Sept. 7 in Durham, N.H.  It marked the Friars' third-straight win as they improve to 3-3 overall.  The Wildcats dropped to 1-3 on the season, including two losses to nationally-ranked opponents.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS & NOTES
- The Friars gained a 1-0 advantage with a goal from sophomore Maddie Babineau (Milton, Ontario) at the 16:29 mark.  It was Babineau's first goal of the season and came off of a penalty corner.  She recieved the initial pass off the insert, carried right and fired a shot low into the cage.
- Providence maintained its 1-0 lead into halftime.  
- Providence and UNH each took four shots in the opening 35 minutes of play.  The Friars held a 3-1 advantage in penalty corners.
- UNH scored the equalizer (1-1) at 43:07 after applying early pressure to start the half.  
- The Friars answered right back to regain the lead less than two minutes later (44:55). 
- Junior Izzy Mendez (Cedar Grove, N.J.) picked up a turnover in the Wildcat's defensive third and beat the UNH goalkeeper for her third goal of the season.  The tally was her first game-winning goal of the year.
- Senior goalkeeper Lydia Rice (Carle Place, N.Y.) collected five saves in the game, having faced eight shots overall (six on goal).
- Providence finished the game with a 12-8 lead in shots, including a 7-6 edge in shots on goal, and a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners.
- Through six games, the Friars have featured six different goal scorers and eight different players have tallied two-or-more points.
