Father Dominic Verner began at PC in August 2022. He is a Dominican Friar and Catholic Priest. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Theology where he teaches courses several theology courses as well as Development of Western Civilization classes. He assists students to prepare for baptism and confirmation through the RCIA program as well as assists Father Simon and Father Cuddy in running a PC Student-Athlete Bible study. He also serves as the chaplain to the field hockey team. Â
Before becoming a professor, Father Verner was an assistant chaplain at PC. He attended Purdue University, graduating with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. After graduating and deciding to become a priest, Father Verner earned his master’s in theology and philosophy in preparation for his ordination. He then attended The University of Notre Dame, where he earned a PhD in moral theology and Christian Ethics. Â
Father Verner was a competitive athlete through highschool where he ran track and cross country. However, in college, he accomplished a dream of finishing the Chicago Marathon and qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Â
Father Verner was awarded the John McMahon Award for outstanding dedication and service to the PC student body by the PC Student Congress in 2017. He was also awarded a Dirigo Honorary membership by the Dirigo Leadership Society and the Friar Four Collaborative Colleague award in 2018.Â
Father Verner is originally from Carmel, Ind., and is the eldest of three children. Â
