PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team (23-15, 12-3 BIG EAST) welcomes Villanova (11-35, 5-13 BIG EAST) to Glay Field for a three-game BIG EAST series from April 24-26. The first game is scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. Game two is on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m., followed by game three on Sunday, April 26 at 12:00 p.m. Games two and three will be streamed on FriarsLive.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence enters the weekend having won 19 of its last 23 games. The Friars recently opened BIG EAST play with a program-best 7-1 start. Additionally, their eight-game winning streak, which tied a school record, came to an end in the series finale against Seton Hall earlier this season. Their 12 conference wins mark the program's highest total since 1995 and sit just one shy of the school record of 13 set in 1993.

Cameron Dunn (Bothell, Wash.), Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.) and Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) have each recently reached the 100-career-hit milestone. Dunn also broke the program's single-season home run record with her 13th of the year on Wednesday, April 15, against Boston University.

Dunn has had an impressive season for Providence. The infielder has been featured on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four times and leads the team with 50 RBI, 14 home runs, and a .883 slugging percentage while batting .423. Her 14 home runs and .883 slugging percentage both rank second in the BIG EAST.

Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas) has also provided a strong presence in the lineup, posting a .414 batting average. The senior has recorded 36 hits, 16 RBI, and a .586 slugging percentage. Jonte was named BIG EAST Player of the Week earlier this season following her performance in a weekend sweep of DePaul and was most recently featured on the league's honor roll.

In the circle, junior Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) leads the pitching staff with a 9-1 record and a 3.29 ERA, which ranks second in the BIG EAST. She has recorded 51 strikeouts over 66.0 innings pitched. Last week, Twomey was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.94 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 18.0 innings to help Providence sweep St. John's. She threw two complete games in the series, including a shutout to clinch the sweep.

Freshman Addy Frye (New Castle, Pa.) has also emerged as a key arm for the Friars. She was recently named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA and 11 strikeouts in wins over Brown and UConn. Her victory against UConn clinched the series for Providence and helped the Friars maintain first place in the BIG EAST standings. On the season, Frye holds a 4-3 record with a 4.98 ERA and 44 strikeouts across 52 innings pitched.

SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats enter this weekend series with an 11-35 overall record and 5-13 mark in the BIG EAST. Most recently, they defeated Penn, 16-11, in a midweek game.

Maranda Runco leads the Wildcats offensively, batting .284 with a team-high eight home runs and 33 RBI while posting an impressive .552 slugging percentage and .469 on-base percentage. Maddie Burrows has also been a key contributor, hitting .342 with 40 hits and a .473 on-base percentage.

In the circle, Kat Gallant anchors the pitching staff with 64.2 innings pitched and a team-high 43 strikeouts. Carly Zych has also been a consistent presence, making 20 appearances with 50.0 innings pitched and recording 11 strikeouts.
