NEW YORK, N.Y. – It was announced today (Aug. 19) that seniors
Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) and
Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) of the Providence College men's soccer program were named to the 2025 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. The Friars were picked to finish second in the BIG EAST East Division.
Batista, who is entering his third season with the Friars, is making his second appearance on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. In his first two seasons, Batista played in 36 games for the Friars and earned All-BIG East Second Team (2023) and All-BIG EAST Third Team honors (2024).
Rosa also is entering his third season with the Friars. He was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team (2024) and the United Soccer Coaches Forwards to Watch List (2025). Rosa has played in 39 games for the Friars and has recorded nine goals and six assists over his career.
Providence was picked to finish second in the BIG EAST East Division in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Friars finished as Co-Regular Season Champions in the BIG EAST East Division last season with an overall record of 13-6-3 and a 5-1-2 mark in conference play. The Friars advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament Championship Game and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
