Emma Eichten went 2-3 at the plate for the Friars.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team was defeated by the Creighton Bluejays, 6-1, on Saturday, March 8, in Providence, R.I. The Friars moved to a 3-13 overall record including a 1-1 mark in BIG EAST play. Sophomore Emma Eichten (Alamo, Calif) led the lineup for the Friars with a 2-3 effort at the plate. She also scored the lone run for Providence.  

GAME NOTES  

• Creighton kicked off the day's scoring with a run in the first and a home run in the second. 

• Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) drew a walk in the fifth that scored Eichten. Creighton led, 2-1, after five innings. 

• Creighton added four more runs in the sixth to extend its lead to 6-1.  

• Alannah Hopkins (Sylva, N.C.) and Alyssa Twomey split time in the circle for the Friars. The two pitchers combined for three strikeouts while conceding only three earned runs. 

ON DECK 

The Friars will finish their three-game series against the Bluejays on Sunday, March 9. The final game will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The matchup will be available for stream on FloSports.
