Jacque Harrington hit a two-run home run and totaled three RBI in the win.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team defeated Brown University (17-22, 9-9 Ivy League), 8-0 (six innings), in an Ocean State matchup that concluded regular season home play on Wednesday, May 1 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 21-21-1 overall (10-11 BIG EAST). Senior Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) led the Friar charge with a two-run home run and an RBI single.

GAME NOTES

-Sofia Peterson (Bordentown, N.J.) gave the Friars an early 2-0 lead with a two-run double that scored Hanna Aldrich (Taunton, Mass.) and Harrington in the bottom of the first.

-In the bottom of third, Harrington extended PC's lead to 4-0 in style with a two-run home run, her sixth of the season.

-The Friars tacked on three runs in the bottom of the sixth highlighted by an RBI single by Aldrich (6-0) and walk-off RBI single by Harrington to end the game.

-Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) pitched the majority of the game for the Friars. Walter held the Bears scoreless over 5.2 innings while recording four strikeouts.

-Harrington made her first appearance in the circle, she faced one batter and forced a ground out.  

ON DECK

The Friars will travel to Omaha, Neb. to conclude regular season BIG EAST play against the Creighton Bluejays (31-19, 14-7 BIG EAST). The Friars will play the Bluejays in a three-game set beginning on May 3. All games this week will be available for stream on FloSports.
