The Friars will resume play on Glay Field tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team was defeated by the Villanova Wildcats (12-11, 4-0 BIG EAST), 8-0, in five innings on Friday, March 15 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars fell to 7-10 overall and 1-3 in BIG EAST play.

GAME NOTES

-The Wildcats took an early lead with six runs in the top of the third.

-Villanova followed up with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.

- The game concluded in five innings with a final score of 8-0 in favor of the Wildcats.

- Freshman Emma Eichten (Alamo, Calif.) went for 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the way for the Friars.

-Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.), Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.) and Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) all made appearances in the circle for the Friars, pitching 2.1, 1.0 and 1.2 innings, respectively.

ON DECK

The Friars will return to Glay Field on Saturday, March 16 to play the Wildcats in game two of the three-game series. First pitch is set to be thrown at 1:00 p.m.
