PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College softball was defeated by Stonehill College, 3-1, on Wednesday, March 22 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
 
GAME NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS
-The Friars kept the Skyhawks off the scoreboard in the first inning with a pass to home plate from sophomore center fielder 
Gabriella Sebastian (Ramsey, N.J.) and an out at second to conclude the inning.
-In the bottom of the first, junior 
Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) hit an RBI double to give the Friars an early 1-0 lead.
-The Skyhawks evened the score on a wild pitch in the second inning, 1-1.
-Stonehill scored two straight runs in the third and fourth inning to take a two-point advantage.
-The remaining three innings remained scoreless for both teams.
-Freshman 
Emily Jonte (Allen, Texas) started in the circle for the Friars pitching four innings. She allowed four hits and struck out one batter. Freshman Emily Quirk (Holden, Mass.) relieved Jonte and pitched the remaining three innings. She did not allow a run.

The Friars will host Butler University in a three-game BIG EAST series beginning on Friday, March 24 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
