Talarico earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week; De Keyser was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference announced its weekly award winners for field hockey today [Oct. 10]. Providence College's Florencia Talarico (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while Eleonore de Keyser (Brussels, Belgium) landed a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.

Talarico recorded an assist in each of the Friars' victories over the weekend. On Friday, Oct. 6, she delivered the assist on the game-winning goal vs. BIG EAST foe Temple. She added another assist in Providence's dominant win over Queens on Sunday, Oct. 8. It marked the first time this season that she registered a point in back-to-back games.

De Keyser backstopped Providence to consecutive shutouts last week with a 2-0 victory over BIG EAST foe Temple and a 7-0 win against Queens. In addition to her presence as a central defender, she provided a boost offensively with a career-high seven points on three goals and one assist against Queens. Prior to the outburst, De Keyser had scored just one goal during her career. It marked the first hat trick by a Friar since 2014.

Providence returns to action on Friday, Oct. 13 against UConn. The game will be played in Storrs, Conn. and is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. The Friars return home for a non-conference match against Lafayette on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 p.m. The game will serve as the backdrop for the program's annual Senior Day festivities.
