PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College softball team fell to DePaul, 5-4, in 10 innings on Sunday, May 8 on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars conclude the season with a 25-21 overall record and 11-13 record in conference play.
GAME NOTES
-DePaul had four hits in the top of the first inning. Kate Polucha and Tori Meyer contributed RBIs for the Blue Demons to give them an early 3-0 advantage.
-Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) led off the scoring with a two-run homerun to center field in the bottom of the second inning. It marked her twelfth homerun of the season.
-In the bottom of the fourth, Tiana Wren (Glen Lyon, Penn.) entered to pinch hit for the Friars and fired off her first homerun of the season to left field to give the Friars a 4-3 lead.
-DePaul tied the game in the sixth inning off an RBI double from Meyer, 4-4.
-In the top of the tenth, Anna Wohlers hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Demons a 5-4 edge.
-Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) started for the Friars and pitched 4.0 innings. She allowed three runs while striking out two batters. Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) pitched 6.0 innings for the Friars. She struck out nine batters and allowed three hits.
