Porter earned the honor for the second time this season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore goalkeeper Asia Porter (Somerset, Mass.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for field hockey on Tuesday, Sept. 28. It marked the second time this season that Porter earned honor roll accolades.

Porter helped guide the Friars to a 2-1 victory over Georgetown in BIG EAST action on Sept. 24. She made three saves in the game and also made a save on a penalty-stroke opportunity in the third quarter that would have given Georgetown the lead. In the Friars' loss to No. 22 UMass on Sunday, Porter made eight saves in the game, including five saves in the third quarter to keep PC within striking distance (1-0) before the Minutewomen tacked on a late fourth quarter goal for insurance to take the 2-0 win.

Porter currently leads the BIG EAST and ranks third in the nation in saves per game (7.56). She also sits fourth in the league and 22nd among NCAA Division I goalkeepers in save percentage (.764).

Providence returns to action on Friday, Oct. 1 against No. 15 against UConn in Storrs, Conn. The Friars return home for their annual Alumni Day on Sunday, Oct. 3 as they host VCU at 1:00 p.m.
